Interview with Danny Dyer and Tamar Hassan
As the Gumball rally started yesterday Rallybird catched up with Gumballers Danny Dyer and Tamar Hassan, from films like The Business and Football Factory to see what they’re up to…Danny’s just had a baby girl so congratulations to him! Read the whole interview below.
What is the latest film you’re shooting?
Danny and Tamar – We’ve got two films that are in pre-production at the moment. The first is Dead Running which should start filimng in the next few weeks and the second is Pretty Boy – about Ray Shaw, the professional boxer.
Tamar – I’m playing Ray and Danny’s playing Mad Frankie Fraser which is gonna show him a totally different light.
What’s been your favourite film to make?
Tamar – The Business. We all loved it – the whole going back to the 80s thing and working with Nick Love
Danny – Yeah, definitely The Business
Which actor would you most want to work with?
Danny – Ed Norton
Tamar – Would have been Marlon Brando but he’s no longer with us so it’s got to be Dustin Hoffman for the comedy factor and De Niro for the method acting…be good to pick up a few tips from the master
What’s your favourite film?
Danny – Definitely Nil by Mouth, Once upon a Time in the West…
Tamar – I thought you said your favourite films were Aladdin and Ghostbusters?!
Danny – oh yeah, Ghostbusters 2! Nah, I like Dumb and Dumber too
Tamar – My favourites are Raging Bull, Usual Suspects, Shawshank Redemption and Once upon a time in America…and my favourite Disney one has to be Finding Nemo!
What car are you driving in the Gumball?
Tamar - We’re driving a Range Rover Sport
Danny – yeah in Vesuvio Gold!
A lot of the Gumballers give their car a name. Do you have a name for your car?
Tamar – We’re going to call it the Kraken as that’s what I called on every film I work on…actually no, Danny calls me Krakovia so we’ll call it that…
Wait wait, forget that…our car is gold right? And Danny’s just this week had a baby girl called Sunny, so we’re gonna call it Sunny after her! There we go, we just named it on this interview…MSN readers, you are privileged!!
Who will be doing most of the driving?
Danny – We’re presenting the Gumball TV series that’s being filmed for Channel 4 so we’ve also got a driver for when we are actually filming but when we’re not, we’re gonna share the driving.
What are you most looking forward to about taking part in the rally?
Tamar - We’ve never done anything like this before so we’re really going into unknown territory. We’ve got a treasure chest of booby traps so the other Gumballers better watch out coz they could be getting ‘a banana in the tailpipe’! Most of all we don’t want to get lost but now that I know we’ve got this sat nav, we should be fine…
What car do you drive normally?
Danny – I’ve got a Porsche K&N Jeep
Tamar – I just bought myself a Jaguar XAR convertible for my birthday
What would be your dream car?
Danny – Gotta be a Capri
Tamar – mine would be an Enzo
