Gumball is no ordinary event!” Maximillion Cooper (Gumball host)

Editor notes:

The first Gumball 3000 took place in April 1999, when British creator Maximillion Cooper invited 50 of his friends to take part in a 3000 mile party around Europe to bring together the music, film, fashion and sport industries. Nine years later, Gumball 3000 has become a lifestyle brand and consistently hits the headlines as ‘Cool Britannia’s’ most unique addition to pop culture, described by Vanity Fair Magazine as “the most rock ‘n’ roll car rally ever staged” and famed for its exploits and celebrity participation. The event annually attracts stars including Oscar-winning star of the Pianist Adrien Brody, Jackass’ Johnny Knoxville, Hugh Hefner, supermodels Jodie Kidd and Caprice, Kill Bills Daryl Hannah, action sports legend Tony Hawk, and rock stars including Snoop Dogg, Blink 182’s Travis Barker, The Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Happy Mondays, The Darkness, Placebo, Jamiroquai and even Ms Minogue.

On Sunday 29th April Pall Mall will be the place to be with cars going on display from 1PM (expect “Pure hell fanfare”, Bam Margera) then at 4PM footballer Ashley Cole will wave the flag for 120 of the most amazing cars (including an A1 Grand Prix car), rockstars, supermodels, billionaires and eccentrics to set off for the ride of their lives; heading first to a checkpoint in Amsterdam during the Queens Day Birthday celebrations (where crowds are expected of over 1 million). Then from Amsterdam the endurance continues thru’ the night to reach Frankfurt Hahn airport where all 120 cars will be airlifted by Gumballs own Antonov cargo planes to Asia.

As if things aren’t dramatic enough, Oscar nominated director Mike Figgis (director of Leaving Las Vegas) is also making his next feature film during the week based on the rally…. This should be interesting! And then to add even more colour, The Business’ stars Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan are playing the Dastardly and Mutley role and hosting this year’s 6 part Gumball TV series….!

“Visualise all 120 supercars including several Bugatti Veyrons, Ferrari Enzo’s, Lamborghini’s, customised Rolls Royce’s, The A-Team van, and even a Turkish Taxi driving off the Gumball Antonov cargo planes in Asia, now that doesn’t happen everyday!”

Upon touching down in the Asian side of Turkey, Gumballers then make their way 3000 miles back to London, navigating the route with their CoPilot GPS and partying all the way! First stop is on Bagdat Street in Istanbul marking the end of stage one in front of an estimated crowd of 3 million people. With a party that evening in the cities hot spot ‘Reina’ nightclub on the shores of the famous Bosporus River, the following morning the adventure heads for Thessaloniki, and by evening reaches Athens in time for an extravagant rooftop party at the Hilton Hotel over looking the amazing Acropolis. From Greece the rally heads north, and is ‘escorted’ by the UN into Albania where the participants will be hosted for dinner in Tirana at the Presidential Palace hosted by the Prime Minister, in association with the United Nations to promote ‘peace and friendship’ in the region. From Albania cars head north to the stunning walled city of Dubrovnik and onwards through Croatia to Slovakia, where an amazing party will take place in Bratislava’s famous UFO watch tower. Next day, the endurance continues on through the Czech Republic to Berlin - where east meets west as another glamorous ‘Bond style’ party will rock thru’ the night, as Gumball fever takes over Europe!

“Last year over 2 million people lined the streets!” Tony Hawk

The final stage brings Gumballers back to London to cross the ‘3000 mile’ finish line on Great George Street infront of the famous Big Ben on Saturday 5th May between 5-8PM. The finish party and ‘awards ceremony’ that evening is certain to rock with Supermodel Jasmine Guinness & Poppy spinning the decks, as everyone finds out “just who has won the coveted ‘Spirit of the Gumball Trophy!”

Go to www.gumball3000.com for exclusive news, features, competitions, apparel, mobile downloads, and to watch the trailer of Gumball’s latest road trip film ‘3000 Miles’ - directed by Maximillion Cooper following the adventures and ‘jackass’ antics of Bam Margera (Viva La Bam), Ryan Dunn, skateboard legend Tony Hawk, Mike Vallely and ‘Rooftop’ Escamilla on the last rally from London to Los Angeles. ‘3000 Miles’ DVD is available NOW…you have been warned!
